1996 Seadoo spx engine problem

Update. Cleaned carbs and changed lines. Not the problem. It revs up high but moves slow and vibration. I'm scared but could it be the splines on the drive shaft spinning?

So from 12:19 today to 5:21 today you replaced all the lines and cleaned the carbs?

Ok updated... My carbon seal moves left and right and I can push it back. My impeller has some nicks and pits on the edges. And the bad part when I spin the impeller it hits of of one side of the wear ring.

When you spin the impeller, is the engine turning over? The bcarbon seal just floats, so moving around is normal. Small nicks and pits is not a big deal, the gap is crucial. If the impeller is bent, that is also a bad thing.

I will check the impeller today. But yesterday morning I did clean out my carbs and changed lines. The carbs were dirty. And the fuel lines were easy to change because I already had them off the tank once when I repaired my fuel sending unit. Also I live right on the river so after I am done I can immediately test my ski in the water.

Did you change all the fuel line? There's about 20ft all together. Its important to change it all.

Those splines look toasted, probably from a combination of lack of grease and the motor not being aligned with the pump.

Does the impeller spin freely in the pump housing?

yes the impeller does spin freely. but I am worried that the impeller will need replaced because of splines inside the impeller. what should I do next?

The good news is the pump is not toast.

It is hard to tell from the picture how bad the impeller splines are with the white grease in there. Maybe get the splines cleaned up and post a couple more pics of both the drive shaft and impeller splines and the guys here can give there opinions on it.

Basically if there is enough damage that the splines will not mesh properly you will need a new/used impeller and driveshaft. Minnetonka4me will look after you for the parts if needs be, it should cost too much.
