I spent a few hours on the jet ski today. Pulled the carb and did the rebuild. It looked good inside, like someone rebuilt it not too long ago. Of course they had the wrong gaskets in there an some of the parts they did not change because they couldn't get it apart. :) They should include some of the small screws in the carb rebuild kit.

I removed the oil pump and tested it. After careful consideration.... I made a block off plate. I feel better mixing the fuel.

What oil line is in the picture. It goes under the oil pump ?? Looks like it comes from the bottom of the main tank

oops! forgot to mention that the screws in the carb are "JIS" (I think this stands for Japan Industrial Standard or some such thing ... Mikuni is a Japanese company) and for the best fit use the "JIS" screwdrivers that you can get from many places on the net. I know, most of the time you can get away with using phillips screwdriver, but then there are the occasional tough ones. A small impact driver is helpful.

Normally you have 2 oil feeds from the bottom of the oil tank: one goes thru the filter to the oil pump, the other goes to a connection on the block under the carb which feeds the RV gears; you must maintain oil here and most that go pre-mix just leave the oil tank in place with some oil in it. The line at the top of the oil tank is the return line from the RV gear cavity cleverly hidden under the exhaust manifold; implication is that there is some kind of flow thru the RV gear cavity, but this is not so.

I, personally, do not advise going pre-mix, but it is your choice. In addition to the block-off plate you would need to block off the oil feeds into the intake manifold else you would have an air leak in the intake resulting in lean running; maybe as simple as a piece of the small oil line bent over and tie-wrapped so no leaks.

Keep having fun!

I figured the oil lines out today as I found the line you mentioned under the exhaust manifold. They are relying on the temperature differential to move oil through the system. I don't know how effective a method this is but I'd to know the perceived flow rate at operating temperature. I am considering draining the engine sump and oil tank and putting some new oil in there. There is likely a better oil for the application since I will not be burning it in the engine. Not that it is a big deal, I just know the additives are long "Spent" in the system. Need some new stuff in there. :)

I am going to change the oil in the pump. Trying to get the Ski ready for our Trip. :)

The brass gear itself moves the oil out of tank, thru the crank internal cavity gears, and back into the oil tank.

Well I got a late start but drained all the oil out of the oil tank and used a suction gun to pull as much oil as I could out of the bottom of the engine. I purchased the Quicksilver API_TC from Wally World. I wanted to get the oil oil out of there. I also drained the fuel tank and am in the process of replacing a few hoses.

QUESTION - What type of grease do I need in the drive shaft fitting ?

I am also going to change the oil in the Pump. I know what I nee for that one. :)

It won't be long now. :)

Looking at the exhaust mount or that is what I call it anyway. There is a rubber that sits on top of this. Should the rubber mount be attached to this point ?? The exhaust pipe was just sitting on there and not secure. This is located on the left side of the engine on the rear of the manifold.

Not TCW. It specifically states if one needs the TCW designation it directs you to another type of oil for Outboards.

I am still held up on the exhaust mount. I also would like some input as to the epoxy used to stick the mounting brackets to the fiberglass on the Jet ski.

I'm getting closer. LOL

Thanks for all the help. put the Jet Ski in the pond today. I don't know much about them but I didn't have any problems. Everything seems to be working Appreciated guys !!
