1996 gtx 747 winterize

I'm winterizing my pwc (and trust me i read all the posts and stickys for winterizing) :ack: But i cant seem to find out why I'm having issues with running coolant through the engine. the engine has the water input to the top of motor and the bottom has one tube going to exhaust and one going to return. both of the bottom tubes are capped at the motor. The input has a stubby piece of tube to pour coolant through but this is not sealing the system. i can still hear air passing through the exhaust.:rant: What gives?

Does it have an engine drain hose? Mine does and it runs to the exhaust outlet at the back of the machine. It says in the manual to pinch this while adding the coolant. ?

When you pour the coolant in, where do you expect the air to go? If you take a 1 quart empty bottle, then put a rubber stopper on the top with two hoses. Take a funnel and put it on one hose. Now, pour a liquid in the funnel, the other line is going to have air come out of it as the liquid displaces the air inside the quart bottle.

The way you have it set up right now.....if you pour coolant into the line you have marked on the picture, the line you have disconnected on the other side (at the tuned exhaust pipe) will bleed air as you pour in the coolant. When you see coolant come out of the hose, your finished.

Disconnect everything and put the lines back together.

The way its set up is on the upper right is the input, lower right is the output, and lower left is exhaust output. I have both exits for the coolant sealed. the input is a direct 6" hose i put on. the problem is i must be missing another water return exit along the way somewhere. i can blow into the input while the exits are capped and the air free flows through the exhaust. So its not a matter of the lines purging themselves when i pour coolant because the coolant will run out of the exhaust. its like there is an open connection between the coolant and exhaust i am missing

Thats why I was asking if there was an engine drain hose. On my SPX there is a hose that runs along the bottom of the machine and attaches to the exhaust outlet at the back of the machine. In the manual it says to close that off while adding the coolant. Thats where all my coolant was going before I figured that out. Running out the exhaust on the floor.

seems like this can be it then. but where is the engine drain hose. there was a hose that came from the bottom that connected to the exhaust but that was plugged. the system is definitely open somewhere. i will try to locate that hose.

I would guess that your machine has that, mines a 97 but I am sure most are the same except ones like the hx.. I have heard from a couple sites to leave the coolant in the engine over winter, and other information I have collected when done drains the coolant all out so I am not to sure which one is proper.. Either way, with the coolant flushed through everywhere theres no water left to freeze so I see no need to leave it in the engine all winter myself. Others may disagree with that. You can download the manuals from the seadoo website if you dont have one.

thats what i ended up doing . filling coolant until it runs out, hopefully this pushed out all the water. thanks for your help
