1995 XP not accelerating when given throttle.

Recently bought a 1995 XP. Replaced wear ring because old one was past worn out. Took it out for first time on lake and was doing find till I rolled it. Once I made it to shore and got back on it it took some time cranking it to get it started again then when I went to give it throttle it would hardy gain any speed but the engine would rev up just fine and would move fine at idle. Got it back to dock and pulled seat and had very little water in it but temp sensor was unpluged. Didn't find anything in intake and everything looks fine. It felt like a car does when clutch is slipping. Anybody have a clue where to start looking to find the problem? Also any tips on reboarding? Everytime I tried the machine would try to turn over again.

Reboarding is a skill that comes with time especially if you are a larger person.
The only thing that will cause the engine to rev and the ski not move forward are a bad wear-ring, bad impeller, stripped driveshaft splines or driveshaft seal leak. The driveshaft seal will also cause sinking if you have the old carrier bearing style which your 1995 should.

Never took on any water while was out. Ran a scope up back of ski and wear ring and propeller both look good. Any easy way to check the splines on shaft without pulling it? Would the seal just go bad from wiping out on it? The seal you're talking about, is that the carbon ring?

Your 95’ shouldn’t have a carbon seal, it should have the carrier bearing.

Splines are pretty uncommon to go bad.

I would pull the pump and inspect the impeller, wear ring and if it has a hull shoe then make sure you use a neoprene seal.

Ok. Thanks. Partzilla only has diagram for a 96 so that's where I'm getting carbon ring from and wasn't close to my computer with parts diagram. I see now the carrier. Where would be best place to get a rebuild kit for it or a good aftermarket one? Figure if I'm striping the pump off might as well go ahead and change them out while I'm at it.
