update: purchased the right oil and a couple new drain plugs. ordered the new fuel filter o ring gasket. took out the bailer lines and bailers that are very clogged and the lines that have seen better days. picked up some new clear hoses and will be posting the progress sorry again to be just jumping around on this thread but being up here in Maine parts sure do take awhile to get here! so trying to do the most I can while waiting

Some super clean will clean that right up. I spray it straight, full strength all over the inside of the hull, and cleans up like brand new. No scrubbing.
We have all waited for parts. Nothing like checking the box 4 times on a Saturday.

super clean? any idea where j can pick it up and yes the inside of the hull is what I'm currently tackling since still waiting for parts... I'm with you on the Saturday thing and is it really worth it to take the motor our to clean everything up very clean? thinking it might be best anyways as there is a spot on the hull I want to do some work too and would better if it was upside down. I don't think it would be healthy for the motor for that?

You can get it at Walmart or auto parts store. As long as all the fluids are drained, flip it over.

Super Clean can be found at all auto part stores and WalMart.
IF you pull the engine you will have to align it with the seadoo special tool.

I haven't messed with pulling am engine but with the alignment tool is it fairly simple? would hate to do all this work and mess something up.. and great good to know on the super clean should I let it sit and then scrub and pressure wash any pattern works better than others?

It is pretty straight forward. Lots of videos on YouTube. I have a good one that is listed in the link where I rent the tool. Flying right now and can't get it as the Internet is a bit weak right now..

ok good info I'm just going to pull the motor the hull is very dirty and want to perform a thorough check on the engine and will just make it easier.

pulled the tank to clean it up and pump out the old tarnished gas and clean it up. will be pulling the motor to clean hull and give it a once over. and during this time will replace all the fuel and oil lines again..

does anyone know where this hose connects? it is attached to the bung that goes through the hull to pump water out I'm assuming? it wasnt connected to anything inside the hull

and lastly does anyone know what this is and it's purpose? I'm assuming it is not stock and it was installed on the ski when first purchased before removing jet pump. (last picture for reference)

That's a ride plate. Google that number. I'm gonna say that's a battery vent. Is it routed to the battery area?

it does and it goes to a bung that sticks out of hull? seems like a good way for water to come in. and is the ride plate a factory item? I'm not familiar with them at all

It has a check valve on it. It vents battery fumes
As for the plate, I don't know. Any manufacturer stamped on it?

I would say it helps get on plane quicker, boats use them, except they are usually spring loaded.

no spring load on it wondering if it is even necessary or a benefit maybe others will chime in. and il have to check for a check valve if so il just remove the hose as the battery doesn't have a vent on it.. I have some of the super clean in front of hull now will let soak until morning then before work wash it out looks like il still be pulling motor though.

Google ride plate extension. That's what it is.

You will be amazed at what the super clean does. I only let it sit 5 min max. Then hose it out. Works that fast.

I did a small section in rear near back of hull and was surprised can't believe I have never heard of it and I did but no real good information and have never seen one on a ski this age

The ride plate is from West Coast Performance Products. They were huge back in the day but out of business for years.
The longer ride plate will keep the nose down more and stop the ski from porpoising (bouncing) at higher speeds. I say keep it on but that is up to you. It won't hurt anything to try it with it off to and see what way you like better.

And it may be just like Christmas in finding all the parts and tools that tend to find their way to the lowest part of the bilge.

well update: let's recap I bought this ski not running with a cover and trailer for $300. little tinkering and it runs great and decided I would try my first restorstion on a jet ski, yesterday I ended up selling the trailer it came with to a co-worker for $300! so now I have a zero initial investment in the machine and time to buy more parts! (don't mind my plow was having it put on today and tested before I wait until last minute lol)

back to the ski, I have the hood taken off and have been cleaning the hull with a product other members recommended "super clean" will post up before and after pictures hopefully today when finished. I will also be removing the decals today and finally some parts came in!

Thanks for beating me to the punch on this. I grew up in Alaska so kinda know, but it is easy to get spoiled around here. Maybe we need to grant you the "smartass" award for the day ... ya beat me out.

Not to admit I ever dropped one, but I bet at least one of them washers is an exact fit for under the nuts that attach the carb.

haha it looks like it could be! I tossed it in my miscellaneous bucket but I wouldn't be surprised. and the plow lol is for the winters up here in Maine.. last couple years we start getting snow before Halloween so I generally wait until after the first storm to mount nothing goes right and I invent about 10 new curse words. this year I'm ahead of it by already bringing to the shop changed the solenoid and fresh hydrolic fluid.. and thanks im having as much fun building it as I do riding it!
