$1600 computer replacement

I have a 2006 Challanger that has only 24 hours on it. It has been stored on a lift in a boathouse when not used. I primarily got it for my wife, but she hardly ever uses it because of the difficulty in maneuvering. The key was left on the ignition and the battery went dead. I tried to jump start, but no beeps were coming from the alarm. The boat did nothing when the start button was pushed. I took out the battery and recharged it. There was still no beeps and no starting. I took the boat out of the water and the mechanic said it was probably the computer and that costs about $1600.00 to replace. I was flabbergasted. Anybody know any cures otherthan $1600 for this ailment. This is my first Seadoo but I have had 8 yamaha wave runners over the past 15 years. We got tired of the PWC style and switched to the boat. Should I have stuck with yamaha? I never had any problems with those crafts at all.

The biggest no-no with a SeaDoo is jump starting it. That has a tendency of cooking the computer. (there are multiple waring stickers on the hull and by the battery)

But before giving up... I would start with checking all the fuses, and double checking that all the power connections are tight, and clean.

If you find the computer is done... I would look on eBay for a replacement. (from a damaged boat)

One other thing. I would get a new battery to try. Wet batterys... if they have a draw that pulls them to 0 volts... then they don't normally take a charge again.
