I am having problems removing my shafts . One is stuck inside the impeller and wont pull out. It has about a 1/4 inch play but hits a point and just stops. I tried lube and it is very rusty. The other is stuck inside the boat on the bearing. I am trying to keep the bearing connected and not remove it. Any tricks to removing these? The hat had to be cut off and c clip is removed.

Here are some more pics of the issues I found, I think I know why I wasn't getting up to full speed . Not sure what happened to the black wear ring, maybe the old owner sucked in a rope? The impeller seal wasn't even sealing right and was pushing out. I will send the impellers off to Impros as soon as I can get that shaft removed.

Well I got the shafts out and probably the only lucky thing is that there was no rust on the engine side. The hat was toasted- the salt etched right into it. I think I know why I had a leak and no top speed. I will need 2 new shafts, seals , boots, impellers re-worked and new pump seals. :o

Is it possible to remove the secondary waterbox/resonator? I know in the years after 04 it went to a plastic resonator and some choose to remove them. I was wondering if this metal can was the same?? I want a louder sound

Decided to toss the plastic pumps for some used metal ones. By the time I rebuild the old plastic ones and got new shafts and seals I was more than halfway there. :coolgleam:

Got my boat from storage this weekend and got the 2 J Pipes back in before it started raining. Now to do some custom routing of the rubber hoses since I removed the 2nd waterbox/resonators. Have to install the 2nd battery try, relocate the fuse box where the battery is going and add all the wires for that. A bunch more to come ;)

I got a ton done this past weekend. Got 2 new trailer tires, got 2 new side bunks installed to help with loading and unloading. Got the resonators removed and took about 2 hours re routing the exhaust hoses to keep them high and not kinked. Installed the 2nd battery tray in the old resonator location with epoxy and ss screws. Seems solid and close to the switch. Also installed a 1, 2 or 1&2 battery switch. Lastly got the 2 intake grate cables installed with metal plugs that wont crack and leak. Got a few cuts, bruises and I am so sore from bending down into the engine bay. :o

Next week is a oil change, buy a deep cycle battery and wire it up, install a charger and start working on the speakers, storage lids, turf and exterior stuff :)

Is it wise to run without the plastic engine covers on the engines? It seems they really don't do much in a boat setting and I don't see water dripping on them as it would on a jet ski. Thoughts?

Good stuff pwgsx. I like where you put the battery tray. I need to look at mine to see if I am capable of doing the same. I feel your pain, when I took my superchargers out my body hurt for a week. I know on most cars you can remove the covers, as they are mostly decorative however I am not sure about boats. How much do the side bunks help?

Yea I bet, did you remove the charges with the engine hatch still on? That thing is a pain to remove but so helpful. Not sure if you would have the room in yours in that location unless you scrapped the resonators. As for the side bunks, I have not used them yet but hoping they help. They should guide the boat right on with only a few inches on each side to play with. We get a lot of cross chop at the ramp and is hard to keep the boat lined up and get it tied down before it moves. The wake zone is too close and too many morons making waves.

Any ideas for front speakers? I was thinking the front sides but its curved too much, under the front grab bars but they would get in the way. Thoughts?

I installed the Pioneer TS-MR1640's in the front and back factory locations a few months ago. I don't have an amp, but let me tell you they sound great! They also match the white gelcoat color of the boat perfectly as opposed to the factory Clarion crap which was too white. There is a blue ring and gray lettering on the covers to really match our boats. I also installed the Kenwood KMR-555U which offers usb, aux etc. It also has Bluetooth, but I can't figure out how it works. For my needs the 4 speakers and no amp is fine.

Got everything back in the engine bay, 2nd battery installed and hooked up to the 1,2, 1&2 switch . Last night my dad and I put the back lid back on- man that thing is heavy and a pain in the butt to re-install. Wish they made that easier to do. Cranked the engines over and both fired up. Ran the rca cables to the stereo and fished them down to the ski locker for now, fixed the hood latch and replaced the push button lock. Also got around to installing some bolts on the ski locker door since the rivets were not holding. Next is getting the trailer in the water to check for leaks and run the engines a bit and change the oil.

Speakers should be here Wed so I can start the amp and speaker install.

Looking good!!!! Im hoping to bring mine home from storage in the next few weeks and pull the pumps off and rebuild em both. Your thread will help..i also have a slow water leak that i need to find still.

RFoster130- If you need to borrow the pump tools let me know, I got what you need. I strongly suggest finding 2 metal pumps instead of the plastic ones but its up to you. For the leak, check the intake grate thru hull cables, that's where mine was (crackedd plastic nut) as well as the carbon seals were shot.

Where do your exhaust outlets go? They look like they go right into the bottom of the hull! I'm building a 4tec boat out of the 1997 Challnger. I want that baby quiet as possible, as my ears are still ringing from that old 787 that was in there.

They go to the factory locations on the bottom. You can kinda see one in the pic. If you want quiet take it into the pump tunnel. I like loud, you should hear my RXP at WOT ;)

I see, so they're probably submerged at idle and I'm guessing until you're up on plane? I don't have a pump tunnel on my boat, just a flat transom and a swim platform. No way I can hide a 4" pipe in it. I'll probably just have it come out of the transom with a down spout.

I got all my goodies in so I can install this weekend. Of course rain comes Sunday but we will see how far I can get. Hydroturf- dark grey molded diamond, 2- 10inch kicker subs with color changing led cones, 6 Infinity speakers and 2 tower speakers for now and a 1,000 watt 4 ch amp.
