1998 Speedster 787 Motor Piston Removal

Ok will do. The head on one side was terribly pitted as well! The cylinder where the rave valve broke.

1998 Speedster 787 Motor Piston Removal

Well I loosened the exhaust, then pulled off both jugs at the same time. Bad news. Both pistons on the rave valve side are scratched very badly! The rings are surprisingly ok, or so they seem. Motor still seems locked up, I would assume I should be able to rotate crank like this no by...

1998 Speedster 787 Motor Piston Removal

I asked the shop, he only went 1 over from standard, so he said that does not require trimming of rave. Looks to me like the plastic threads just rotted out. What luck!

1998 Speedster 787 Motor Piston Removal

All, I had my 787 motor rebuilt at a shop when I bought it. While starting it at the dock, the plastic threads that hold the rave valve up tore apart, and the rave valve bounced off of the piston, breaking the ring. So, now I have to pull the jug to replace the ring, and check the...

    Seadoo XP or GTS

Myself I love the XPs, love how they handle. Dont want anyone on with me anyways. :) My wife likes the slower GTs though, she has no inclination to go fast or turn hard. Barely goes above 1/4 throttle!

    engine seized

Ok that is good to know thanks, did not think of the possibility that the starter was stuck while engaged. Have had one starter seized where the driveshaft still turned, but guess it was not extended. Thanks for the idea, will have to wait until I go back up north now next weekend. Appreciate...

Hamilton ontario Would the starter prevent the driveshaft from turning though? Even if the starter was stuck, the motor should still turn no? Thanks again

    engine seized

Well I pulled the pump and can still only rotate the driveshaft couple inches either way. Broken rod maybe? Better to rebuild it or drop in a rebuilt from SBT? I'm in canada, don't even know yet if they'll ship to me. Is dropping in a new motor as easy as disconnecting wiring and exhaust...

    engine seized

Ok great ill cross my fingers I guess if she will still only rock a few inches ill have to open her up. A guess of mine is that the carb was maybe restricted, runnning lean, and maybe broke a rod? Guess I shouldn't worry about it until I get there. Cheers, thanks gents!

That seenms pretty easy. Ill tackle it tomorrow thanks! Does the impeller come out within the pump then?

    engine seized

It is a 92XP It was bogging down, like starving for fuel. Parked it to check fuel filter, next day this? By pump, do you mean remove impeller?

If the plugs are out, and the driveshaft will turn only a couple inches either way, is the motor done?
