Happy days, problems solved. Changed the 2 year old fuel with fresh stuff, put her in the river and it performed perfectly. Big thanks for all the input and for me, lesson learned.

Yes, I have since flushed the engine a couple of times with clean oil and it seems to be fine now. However after a minute or two of running I get a long beep and the engine check come on. Any idea on how to fault find this problem.

Ok, this is a bit embarrassing,but, after checking my cctv footage, when the engine check alarm went off, I turned the ski off and did not turn the water off. I then tried to restart but it was compression locked. So does that mean for those few seconds it was off, the cylinders filled with water.

Hey all, 2006 Gti Se 130 has been sitting unused since 2019. It started fine to my surprise but when i turned the water on, after about 10 or so seconds the engine alarm came on. I turned the water off and shut the ski down waited a few minutes and tried starting again. No go compression locked...

Not sure if its the same or not. If it looks like the one in the photo yhan it could be.

This diode is like a valve, it only lets voltage through in one direction. So when you hit the starter and then release as the engine starts it stops the sudden surge back lash going backwards through your MPEM and frying it. If you have jump started it from any sort of running vehicle your will...

I took photos as i was cutting the mpem out of its case and of chipping the black staff out and down to the diode so i will put them up this weekend.:hurray:

Thanks for the help. It is leaning towards that diode in the mpem. I have opened her up and will replace the diode and let you all know how it went.

I have a 97 GS with a 717 motor and it just stopped. I have found that the 5amp fuse was blown. When i tried to replace it, it blew as soon as i put it in. Any suggestions as to what the problem is please ? Regards BJ :rofl:
