    Changing 1996 GTX oil lines?

1996 gtx with 102 hours, is it worth it to change the oil lines? Obviously if they break the motor is toast, but do they need changing or are they usually good for a very long time? Also how hard of a job would this be?

Water regulator leaking on when running out of water?

Is it possible that my 1996 GTX will leak water from the regulator on the exhaust when it is hooked up to a hose but not when in the water? Maybe the extra water pressure from those hose makes it leak but it wont when under normal conditions? I cannot figure out why else this is leaking because...

    JB Weld Engine mounts????

So the other day I was riding with my friend, he was on a 95 XP 717. All of a sudden it started vibrating like crazy over 5000 rpm. After looking it all over, all of the engine mounts are broken and the engine is literally sitting in the hull attached by the drive shaft. So as the only option...

Does this sound like a lean hesitation or a rich bog?????

could someone please suggest if i have a lean condition? I think i am having a lean hesitation, but i am not entirely sure. It will bog/hesitate after idling for a few seconds but if you hit the throttle just after running hard i won't bog/hesitate. It will even stall if you hit the throttle...

    Whats wrong with this ski?

i have a 1996 GTX, i just rebuild carbs, replaced fuel lines, new wear ring, and refurbed impeller....... anyways it seems as if ever since i redid the carbs that it has been not running exactly right. I though it was too rich on the oil pump so i set that properly but now it still bogs on hard...

    Mysterious cavitation!?

I have a 1996 GTX. It started to cavitate a little during a standstill hole shot. So I figured it was time to pull the pump. I pulled the pump and found the wear ring in pretty decent shape but the prop was quite chewed. It had a bent blade some good dents and a lot of leading edge damage. I...

    oil injection pump sync question?

I got my ski running great now after a mess with a carb rebuild, I had one of the little hinge pins from the needle arm not correctly in its slot and it was causing a leak. It's just A Bit rich on oil though. When you set the oil pump lines, where should the throttle position be? I set the lines...

    Challenger corrosion problem?

I have a 2012 Challenger 210 SE 430. Its a great boat and we have used it a lot. It has been used in salt and fresh water but a decent amount in both, about 150 hours combined. I am having an issue with corrosion on the reverse gate and reverse support. There is also some corrosion on the bottom...

    Impeller bearing noise?

I had some cavitation so I pulled my pump and found the ring and prop pretty dinged up. It spins freely but it makes a little of a scraping noise when spinning. Is this normal? the machine has 55 hours on it and had a pump oil change about 10 hours ago. I'm going to change the impeller out so I...

    Yet another CARB pressure question?

I just rebuilt my carbs and put them on the boat,,, it didn't run right and was flooding when stopped. So i pulled the carbs and found one of the hinge rods from the needle arm was not in its slot correctly and was causing a low pop-off and some leakage. I also decided to do a pressure test with...

Could these spark plugs cause hard starting?

I just finished rebuilding the carbs and replacing the fuel lines on my 1996 GTX with a stock 787 setup. The machine has 50 hours. When I took it out for its first test ride after the work it ran great. 7000 rpm no problem and 50+ mph. Here is the one issue though, it tended to be a bit...

1996 787 GTX CARB popoff questions

While doing my popoff test after a carb rebuild, the arm and needle tends to stick after popping. Is this normal? Also what holes need to be plugged? It seems that when I first started doing the Testing, I had the pulse , pump return plugged, and I had air going in the pump inlet. But after...

    Crazy Challenger 210 Adventure!

Two summers ago we took our 210 Challenger across the ocean passage from Newport Beach CA to Avalon Catalina Island CA. About 30 miles of open ocean. Easy trip over, a bit tougher trip back as the water became dangerously rough for the 210. Just though I would share some pictures. check out...

Do 787 carbs need to be cleaned after fuel line replacement?

I'm about to change out some gray lines on a 1996 GTX 787 with 49 hours on it. This machine sat up from 2007 until December of 2014 and is in great condition. It had 41 hours on it when it was brought back out after nearly 8 years. The machine runs perfectly now but my question is, do I need to...

    96' GTX oil leak

I have a 96 gtx that appears to be leaking oil from around the grommet on TOP of the tank. The leak appears to be coming from around the sender unit for oil level readings. The sender is very loosely fitted in the tank. Is that how it is supposed to be or should it be quite tight. Also where is...
