How important is this rubber plug?

After replacing the carbon seal on my 1997 GTX I found this rubber plug that I think came out of the hole the shaft goes into. After some research I think it goes on the end of the shaft. Do I need to take everything back apart and put this on? Thanks

    15 amp fuse keeps blowing

Replaced the 15 fuse then also replaced the rectifier as I had one on hand. Ski fired up ran fine no blown fuse. Tried it several different times no issue. Pulled it out of garage today and tilted it up to make it easier to fix some trailer lights. A little bit of water came out, pulled back in...

The rave valves were super dirty and 1 had a melted top. After cleaning and replacing worn parts with new ones the ski runs like a top and everything lines up and works perfect. Thanks so much for the help.

97 GTX won’t go over 3500 rpm in water

I tried to adjust the low setting on the carb but it did not affect the rpms at all. I found on here the steps to set carb but not sure I did it right. I found and adjusted the screw with the T on it and nothing changed.

97 GTX won’t go over 3500 rpm in water

I have a 1997 GTX that runs 1500 at idle on the trailer and 1100 in the water. It takes off fine but tops out at 3500 rpms. On the trailer it revs up fine. If I can catch a wake and get the ski out of the water it will take off and run fine. The ski has new carb, new fuel lines. I just had it in...
