I was changing the gas cap on my 2006 GTI-SE 155 and the screw slipped off from the retaining chain and fell into the tank. I was off the side of the nozzle, freak thing. Very small screw. Suggestions on removal, short of taking out the tank? Thanks in advance for your help.

It's probably stainless steel so a magnet won't work. Just leave it in there , there's a screen on the pump.

I also would just leave it. It won’t go anywhere or hurt anything with the filter on the fuel pump. You would have to pull the fuel pump to try and get it out, and it isn’t necessary.

You could try one of the telescopic magnet retrievers, but as other have mentioned, you could just leave it. The other alternative is to pull the pump assy as you will have full access down into the tank to retrieve it.
