I keep my sportster le in my garage where it will not freeze so i was wondering if it is necessary to do the antifreeze bit and if i were to go out and dry run the engine each weekend for about 30 seconds would i still need to fog the engine also? Thanks

I would just fog the engine once and put some fuel stabilizer in the tank and you'll be alright.

NS is right:agree: But some foundational reasoning is: The fuel will "Clabber" without the stabilizer. The water that IS in the gas, will assist it in clabbering. So, after adding STABIL, then run it a bit, to get the stabil into the carbs. and fuel sys. IF you do what you said, then you still will have partially clabbered gas.

Clabber is what non homogenized milk does, when left out for 3 days. It separates solids, and whey. When this occurs in the carbs, the solids attach themselves to the inside parts, and the whey evaporates.

Since you're in Louisiana maybe you'll be ok but a while back, I had my skis in my heated garage up in Ohio and didn't have antifreeze in them. We had a huge ice storm a day before Christmas and the power was out for 5 days. My garage got down in the 20s but luckily no damage was done to the skis. The moral of the story is you never know what freak of nature is gonna wreak havoc on a well laid plan!

Funny you should say this. Last week we got 5 inches of snow and lost power due to branches breaking under the weight of snow which were already weakend by two hurricanes this year. I ran my generator overnight powering a heater in the garage and slept in a freezing cold house while my wife and son slept at my in laws house that had power. Well, this weekend we might take the boat out seeing the temp is going to be 77 degrees! Crazy huh!
