new to forum, ive read many pages in troubleshooting but have not found my prob. i have a 97 GTI and i get 1 beep with key then at start-up wot, i kind of suspect a very lean condition, have not have time to check fuel lines for leaks, carb and so on, this is with water hose hooked up. nice forum...

Wot?

It will run about twice as high a RPM when out of the water. So, about 3000-3500 rpm, which is NOT WOT, which would be around 6000.

So, 3000 or so is normal and OK.

If higher, check to see that your throttle opens and closes with the trigger, and that your carb isn't stuck in a WOT state. Might just need to back off the idle screw a bit.

Sounds like a minor problem...at least it starts up!!!

:agree: In the water the doo will idle about 1500 rpm due to the load on the impeller from the water. On the hose 3000 rpm's is normal. I would try it in the water under load and see how it runs. If you still have a problem give us a shout.

thanks for the info... linkage ok, but this thing raps all the way out, will do as suggested on the carb in a week or two. thx...

fixed WOT prob seems fuel mix was very lean, took to lake it would only do about 15 to 20 mph and bog out. filter in carb gummed up with black stuff. installed carb kit and replaced the grey fuel lines, i think this is where it came from. replaced piezo buzzer 35.00 plus shipping and all is well.
