Will this rub rail work? Links in thread...?? Want to go to black..1996 Speedster

After doing some searching...I found these links in a past thread.

I can't stand the faded 90's purple on this thing and am painting the bottom of the boat black. Would like the rub rail and insert to match.

Would I be able to essentially drill out the rivets on my OEM rub rail and then re-rivet this one to the boat? I would use RTV or silicone of some sort on each rivet to make sure it is sealed.

That's a rigid rail, won't bend on the sides near the back.

Everything I’ve seem shows the rigid rail bending around corners with a heat gun?

It may work but I was referring to the curve on the side not necessarily the bend around the corner.

I need one for my 98 Sportster 1800 so let me know if it works!
