I have a 1996 Sea doo spi. The fuses kept blowing and I changed the solenoid and it still would not crank. I just now replaced the electronic module or mpem. Now, it gives one short beep when I press the start button. Any ideas on what's wrong or how to fix? Also, are we supposed to reset something after replacing the mpem?
Thanks,
Harlin:confused:

I would start by cleaning the Post on the safety lanyard. It is beeping and saying it isn't connecting to the Mpem, (Multi Purpose Electronic Module) It needs to beep 2 times to let you know it is ready to start. Clean the post and cap with soapy water. Don't use any grease of lubricant on it as it needs a clean connection to make contact. Connect the lanyard to see if it is making a connection. 2 beeps and it's ready to fire up.
I hope this helps.

key

prob. going to need a new key. my old key does the exact same thing. i was playing with the old one yesterday and finally got 2 beeps out of it. most of the time it wouldnt beep at all at me or give me the 1 short beep telling me it was the wrong key but if you held your mouth right it would finally start the boat. the seadoo dealer told me to hock a loogie in the key itself then stick it on the post.... i laughed but hey it kinda helped....haha

MPEM replacement?.......

You say you replaced your mpem. Did you get your lanyard re-programmed. The lanyard has a ROM (read only memory) embedded in the cap. The post is a magnetic communicator to the mpem.

If you replaced the mpem, you'll need to take it to a dealer and have them program your lanyard to the new mpem. While your there, you might as well get a spare lanyard. Nice to have a spare if you lose one.......here, Seadoo charges about $75 bucks. That covers the cost of one lanyard and programming.....I'd calll your local Seadoo and see what they charge. Normally, this isn't a drop off thing. You take if to them and they program it with you being right therel...........it shouldn't take long.
