which grate for 96 xp?

That guy is a local competitor to me... One of those guys who doesn't ride or give a chit about the sport.

Hopefully you sent an offer... He plays the make an offer game.

Here are some JD grates. That's the little Avenger on the end that says 93SP. It is only half the weight and doesent have the big support fin to protect the drive shaft as well. Looks like it would bolt up though. It is #'d A6 instead of 6. There are two #6's in the middle and a #16 on the end.

Is Jet Dynamics even in business anymore? Be cool if somebody could round up a catalog or a one from the late 90's.
 
I talked to Glen at JD at the World Finals and we could get a group order and get new ones but it seems there are still enough around.

They had a WICKED box of vintage decals me and my bro picked through SCORE!!!

ok guys so i went up to the storage garage today and decided to crawl under the skis to look at the grate...what i found under my 96 xp was not the same as my 94xp. The 94xp had just straight black parrallel bars and the 96xp had an aluminum looking aftermarket grate? Unless thats what the 96xp's stock grate looks like...
Does anyone have a pic of the stock 96xp grate?
 
The stock one is just black plastic and looks just like this

It is only held in by 4 bolts so it is very easy to take off.

yes the bottom r&d grate looks like it!! can you tell me a little bit more about the performance of that grate? because i just purchased a jet dynamics #17 grate..lol
 
I think the jet dynamics grate may be more appealing to some, but you can put the r&d one on your 94 xp, I am pretty sure they have the same bolt pattern. So drive your xp with both on it and see which you like better, you will want to test in the same chop conditions. The person to ask on here is the after market king of seadoos Matt Braley
 
good i was hoping one would fit on my 94, and yes ive done alot of research and matt braley does seem to know alot!! thanks alot jetskigoodies for your assistance!
 
Anyone ever try the Solas grate? if so, how did it do? I got one when I bought my 96 SPX but I never ran it.
 
Which grate scrubs the least amount of top speed in smooth water btw/ the Solas and R&D? And Whiskey D you might have bought my SPX from the guy that bought it from me. lol

Dont think so, i got my from the original owner who lived on lake wylie.
 
Okay I just saw you were from NC, and I sold my '96 SPX years ago with a Solas on it. I missed it so much that I have picked up a '97 SPX and a '96 XP, but I certainly miss the fuel economy of that 717.
 
Just got my ski last week. Haven't ran it yet, but found it has a Jet Dynamics on it. Cleaned it up with a wire wheel and put it back on. Will test it out tomorrow. Not sure which model it is, didn't take a shot of the back, but it cleaned up nice. JDhgrate.jpg
 
My brother sold his hx and that had a jet dynamics grate on it that I gave him. I wish I would have got over there and switched it out with a stock one.
