Okay at the lake the other day Me and my uncle took out skis out. We've been working on them all summer getting kinks out and trying to make them mint. Some gangster looking guys walk up to us n ask to ride we say no were putting them up for the day. We just backed trailer in water and they were like just 10 min n crap like that. Kinda begging us. U could tell they been drinking to. We said no and basically loaded up. They gave us dirty looks and what not. I just don't feel comfortable letting anyone but family or close friend ride this investment. What you guys think. This is,3rd time this season someone has asked.

Hell No and Hell NO.
Give me a few grand and we'll talk otherwise tell them to pack sand......
Especially if they are strangers :boxing_smiley:

Ya I told them no. It's just 3rd time ppl have asked. I personally would never go up and ask someone that. It's just not right.

I saw the title, and I was getting ready to say... I let everyone rid my stuff.... BUT............

I don't think I've ever had someone just walk up and ask to ride. (other than kids) Without a doubt, I would say no.

OK... with that said... I have been at the lake before, and I've often talked to people I did not know.... and after a while... we may trade toys for a little while. (especially my Superjet ski) A lot of guys with big, new skis have no idea of how difficult it is to ride a standup. So... I tell them they can ride my Yamaha, if I can ride whatever they have.

BUT... a couple drunk guys, just walking up... HELL NO !!

Ya I let my close family and friends but usually no one else. I have put to much time and money in these things for someone to jump on one and break it lol.

I just tell them my insurance don't cover anyone but me. The best one I've ever heard was when we where snowmobiling and the other guy told some bum sure..... if I can ride your wife first.

I'll let just about anyone I know ride my ski, I do like to check them out a little especially on the XP, the GTI about anyone can ride. With the price of gas I do appreciate it if they put some gas in the ski, especially if it's a long ride, but I don't ask.

I tell them the same thing and only if she is a good ride. Usually makes them mad but if they keep it up I seriously tell them NO WAY. Good friends/family are a different story on occasion.

We have only had this happen once (we go to a relatively small lake, never more than a few people there). I was on the water, hubby had gone to shore, then a few minutes later I saw some young girl probably about 16 hope on the back with my hubby and off they went. A few minutes later I saw an older gentlemen pacing up and down the shoreline. I went in. Apparently someone didn't ask their Dad before they took off on the water with some strange man! And Dad was pissed. When they got back, she jumped off and he was chewing her out as they walked away. My poor hubby, he was so confused...I asked him what was he thinking..he said..."she asked for a ride and I said sure". I was laughing so hard...he still doesn't understand what the problem was.

But, as to the original question....no strangers riding alone...too many things could happen.

well, I have to admit, if a teenage girl asked me for a ride I'd probably give her one too...:drool5:

Maybe we're a little more conservative here than where you are, but I would never even consider giving a 16 year old girl a ride, unless I had talked to the parents first. And not at all unless I knew the people.

I think it has more to do with being a perverted, dirty old man than where we live

Not a chance I would let some stranger ride my skis. I have on occassion taken strangers for a quick ride, but I am driving, not them. And all they asked was "can you take me for a ride". Never had I had someone actually ask me to let them take it for a ride by themselves. That is a bit ridiculous.

Friends and Family, that is anothor story and I certainly let them ride if they want.

I would never let anybody drive my skiis because if anything happens to it... It would be on my insurance. I won't even let some of my friends drive it because I know they are very reckless on watercraft. But most of my family and friends I would let drive. :D

That is why my husbands confusion was so funny, he would have come unglued if our daughter had done that....but he knows he is harmless and just saw it as giving a kid a ride.

You just keep on telling yourself that Suzy. He saw it as some cute young girl wrapping her arms around him for a cheap thrill and playing dumb to you. Don't you know ALL men are pigs. :reddevil:

I'm still young enough, i could give a 16 year old girl a ride on my skis, and get her number lol.
