We have a ~60mi trip with coworkers in a couple weeks from Charleston to Beaufort, all intercoastal. A couple weeks ago, we did about 50 miles with no problems other than cavitation on the port pump. Just wanted to know whats the farthest people have gone on trips with their 2-stroke boats and if anyone had things to watch out for or tips on carrying extra fuel. My plan is to take 2 5gal jugs and ratchet strap them where the bow seat is (I dont have a cushion). I just redid both pumps and through-hull seals. One engine is an SBT rebuild and both have oil injection delete. I'm about to replace the fuel filters and fix the fuel sending unit float. I'm putting on a bimini top tonight and new stereo. I have a handheld VHF and am going to use Navionics on my iphone for chartplotting. Oh and i'm going to get a TowBoatUS membership for backup.

Anything I'm missing?

Heads up on the Tow club membership...usually benefits kick in after a wait period (24 hours, on BoatUS) So if you plan to need it soon, buy it with ample time.

basic tool set just in case and some zip ties and duct tape can't hurt.

Only had my 96 speedster a month but just went on a 50 mile trip. Used 14 gallons cruising around 30 mph. I've been watching my fuel economy and my speedster seems to get 3-3.5mpg FYI

Trip probably isn't going to happen. STBD engine spit off the pto boot AGAIN. Is this a symptom for a misaligned engine? Bellows hose clamp on the carbon seal came off too and it looks like the stainless hat retaining o-ring got pinched. I had no idea anything was wrong till I pulled off the cargo hatch and saw.

Gotta adjust the port throttle cable too. The first 2" of travel don't do anything.
