What is this thru-hull for???

I bought a 2010 GTX a few months ago. Haven't had a chance to introduce myself yet. But I need some quick help.

I have no clue if this was a factory job or the previous owner's doing. But there were 2 hoses connected from each drain plug at the stern, and routed into this circular thru-hull fitting on the left side of the jet housing.

Anybody know what this is? I already removed the hoses from the drain plugs because I wanted to be able to drain water from the ski at the ramp after I use it. But I'm afraid if I remove the hoses from this circular fitting I will have 2 holes in the back of the ski letting water in. NOT GOOD.

Thanks in advance.

I just dropped her in the water for a while to do some trailer adjusting. These hoses definitely fill up with water and if I put the ends of them below they waterline they leak into the hull.

WTF are these hoses for??? I'd like to know why there are 2 unnecessary holes in the back of my gtx that have the potential to sink it.

Please help me out

Im going to chime in here since you seem anxious for an answer. BUT im going to preface my comment with ive only had my 2010 GTX for 10 months. I aint an expert.

Those hoses are part of the automatic bailing system that removes water from the bilge when the motor is running. They connect to the 'pump' in a location tgat actually pulss a vacuum on the hoses. They are there for your pritection. Hook them back up. They were put there on purpose.

Yes, hook them back up but make sure that you hang them up high (with a zip tie) or something. Otherwise water will suck back in. You want to get the top of the hose a lot higher than the lake waterline.
they will hook up to little black squares.....(clean these too).

*****EDIT*****
OK, I just tried checking your ski. Do you have the GTX 155HP?
Ok a 4 tec......look at this link and see if you find those hoses.

If not your ski then go to top of the home page and click on "Parts" and find your ski.

That makes sense now. I don't like the fact they were tied into the drain plugs. The ski wasn't draining at the ramp through the plugs. I checked the little strainer on the end and it's clean, so no clogging issues.

I'll run the hoses up high and then back down into the bilge without that strainer fitting, and leave my drain plugs by themselves. I don't think the bailer is working anyway though because there's always a couple gallons of water in the ski after a cruise. I think it comes in through the deck hatches in the back, which have a pretty shitty sealing method. Sea Doo could have come up with something significantly better for those hatches.

Thanks for the help.

They will drain, but they are not fast.

Ok, now you are on to a different problem....the two hatches on the back. I almost sunk my ski the first weekend because they do not seal very well.

The solution that I found that works is to go get a HDPE gasket that has a 'D' profile. I apply it with both strands still stuck together. I put it on so that the seam sits on the little channel in the ski deck. Hard to describe but just look at it.

I'll post a video of a storm that kicked up one afternoon that my 2010 GTX rode out and didn't have a drop of extra water.

Do you have any pictures of the gasket. I was thinking about picking up some garage door seal from Home Depot, that stuff is thick and sticky on one side, would probably work well.

This is what I used....

I leave the two pieces together.
