I am just curious.. i was planning on installing myself but with everything thats been coming up I dont want this to end up being like some of my installs that sometimes went on for weeks without getting done.. and i dont want to waste valuable time that I could be out on the water.. So anyway.. If all goes well I will have the following items to install for the audio system:
  • Alpine PDX-4.100M
  • Alpine PDX-1.600M - Subwoofer Amplifier
  • Alpine PDX-4.100M - Speaker Amplifier
  • 2 Pairs Polk Audio MM651MM speakers
  • 1 10inch Kicker sub w/ enclosure (rear storage area)
  • Line Output Converter

I pretty much have every possible install item necessary.. I mean I bought 25ft of power/ground wire, 50ft of speaker wire, all fuse holders, ditribution blocks, fuses, rca cables, etc etc... I dont think anything else will be necessary at all.. Just curious what you guys think a shop would charge if just needing to do the install.. really all that will be needed is to drill out the front speaker holes and run wiring from there to the gauge area, they can use factory speaker wire for the speakers that are goign in the factory speaker location, run speaker wire to the sub in the rear storage, and then just run the power the battery swithc which is under the steering console where amps will be mounted and then run the ground to the battery in the engine compartment.. i mean idk.. maybe its just me but i cant see ti taking that long.. but i know how frustrated i can get and i know i will get pissed in the middle and leave and then not want t obe bothered and the boat will sit for the rest of the season.. just wanted to weigh the options of pushing and doing it myself or letting someone else do it and see what the price difference is..

Good Luck. After insatalling all my stuff, a couple local audio shops ahve checked it out and both said it would cost over $1,000 for labor to do what I did in about 40 hours total. Of course I did a lot more, so yours should be less.

On another note, will there be enough signals coming into the amp for 4 speakers plus a sub input? That is the single reason I went with a Clarion head unit with 3 preamp outputs.

well the headunit only has 1 set of rca outputs that are "preamp" so from my understanding those are for subs so the subs are good.. as for the speakers i am doing line output converters.. again if i have everythign correct which i think i do.. but basically just wire the headunit speker outputs into the line converter and then the converter will turn them into 4 channel rca outputs.. so it should be good.

Did you check to make sure the factory radio has 4 speaker outputs. I thought someone else on here once said their factory jensen was only 2 channels.
