Does the wear ring section come off with out taking the impeller off. I broke a bolt off and need to get to it all other bolts are out. I don't have the impeller socket so I was trying to save some $$ and not buy one..thanks in advance

Ok thanks. I'm removing the shift cable now Is the only thing holding it to the wear ring section the bracket and 2 bolts? I've got them loose but looks like the piece is stuck on there.

Yes... just a strap over the cable. If it's stuck... it's probably from corrosion. AND, that's going to make getting the ring off very rough.

Yeh I've tried pulling the piece that holds the ring of with ratchet strap n rubber mallet so far no luck. I'm making a slide hammer now.

Ok so after trying without any luck. I've decided to do something I haven't seen anyone do on here for now anyway. I'm going to leave broke bolt in and put back together. Use some adhesive to hold a nut on side with broken bolt and use a smaller bolt to hold those pieces together by threading into the nut. It's not what I want to do but I'm itching to get in the water again. Then maybe in winter il try take it out. Thoughts? I know I'm probably guna hear crap on this one.

Shorter 10mm bolt here and nut on back side. You can still see broken bolt in there.

Or even add a coupling nut to the broke bolt that's in the there them buy a bolt the right length to thread into it.

Dont give up. I had the same problem. Instead of trying to pull the wear ring I managed to break the seal by rotating it a bit each way with a rubber mallet on the edge of the squarish side castings until it loosened up and got a prize bar inbetween the gap that opened up between the outer castings and eventually it came off. It took a while and I almost gave up. I then used a stud extractor to remove the broken bolt. I eventually used the smaller extractor as the right size one stripped the thread. I had to hammer on the smaller size but it came straight out with that one on.

Ok thanks. I haven't touched it again since I've left it right now til mayb I get sometime to look at it again. Where do you order new bolts that size it seems alot of places don't carry them?
