I have a 2006 GTI at the beginning of last year i had to replace the wear ring....when i pulled it out of the garage and ran it (hooked up to a hose of course) it ran fine and then something locked up and it did a Huming noise and the ski vibrated like crazy. Took it in and told me it was my wear ring....OK well this year i do the same thing and guess what SAME problem. Im waiting on them to get back to me but if they call and say it the same thing i think ill lose it. OH YEAH and from last year to this ive only put on 2 hrs. From 18 to 20 hrs, yeah i didnt use it much last year.
SO i guess after my rant how common is it for me to have to replace it every year ($250+ for them to do whatever they are doing)
