does any one know how/where to get a replacement scupper valve for a 1997 speedster. water coming in the boat from the deck drain at idle, get on the throttle the the water flows out. so, im assuming its the scupper valve HELP

It's a generic boat part. You can get it at any boat shop. I got one from eBay for about $7 shipped.

****EDIT****

Here.... go to ebay and look at this auction:

160576960738

It will cost you about $5.20 delivered.

I have a '97 Speedster that gets water in the floor while sitting still with people in it. I've replaced the scupper valve with a new fancy one, and it makes no difference. My theory is that the boat is simply too shallow for this system to work effectively. It seems to constantly take gulps of water up through the scupper valve, and the vertical drop from the floor to the valve to the water line is almost flat.

At a boat show this weekend, I noticed that a new model Speedster did not have a scupper valve. When I pull mine out of storage this Spring, I plan on modifying this system. I plan to (1) remove the scupper valve and put a solid rubber seal behind it, effectively sealing it up. Then I plan to disconnect the floor drain hose inside the engine compartment, letting any floor drainage water dump directly into the bilge where the pump can get it.

Has anyone tried this, or found a better solution?

A properly installed Scuper will keep out all the water. Personally... I don't like the "Fancy" valves, since they seem to leak even more. Install a new, flat rubber valve, and it will keep your feet dry for +4 seasons/years. At that point... you may need to install a new one.

DO NOT let the water drain down into the bilge, and DO NOT plug it off. On a small boat like these... if you take a wave over the bow... you can take on enough water to flood the engine, or sink the boat.

Ask me how I know that it will work.
