hi guys,I took my speedster out on lake today to break in my motor (top end rebuild).. Know I get it out on the water both motors are running well , but one thing 2 things were happening, 1- water was comming in the motor area and it was comming from where the shaft comes from the housing ,know I don't know if there should be anything there ,but it was comming in quick..and for # 2- it was the steering ,the cables need to be replaced... Got the boat back to shore fast turnd on the bilge pump nd drined out the water... Any help would be great...ty joe

plug was in boat.......

I'm not that familiar with SeaDoo boats, but you might want to check the scupper(s), I think they are universal, you can just get a new one form Perko.

BTW you will probably get better response if you post this in the boat section.

Water will come in thought the carbon seal. And... if you don't have massive cavitation... they are probably fine.

Just an FYI... I would drain a good 5 gallons of water out of my sportster at the end of the day. BUT... that amount of water wouldn't even get to the bottom of the bilge pump most of the time.

Now... if you have water at your feet (in the passenger compartment) then that is the Scupper valve at the transom, under the swim platform.

If this is the 95 Speedster which is listed in your profile, they don't come with a carbon seal, but a sealed bearing. If you don't grease this regularly, usually after every ride, the bearing will eventually seize to the drive shaft and usually breaks the through-hull fitting. It could have just ripped the protective hose that covers the drive shaft.

Good catch.

He's right. If you have water coming in around your seal pack... that's BAD !!
