If it is not supercharged, you can use 10w40 synthetic, according to some threads.

On my 04 supercharger, only non synthetic oils (also 10w40)

You can use synthetic but make sure it does not have friction modifiers in it.

Just stick with BRP XPS oil if you have no idea what synthetic non synthetic and friction modifiers are or how to tell if if the oil has them. Oil filter is cheap from the dealer. Not many options there anyway. Get yourself a good oil pump and watch the video below. Good luck it's a piece of cake.

Just get the BRP kit with filter, o-rings, plugs and a gallon of oil. Cheap and easy.
