Wakeboarding behind a 95 GTX

I have a 95 GTX and wondering if anyone has had any success pulling a wakeboarder. It would probably just be my brother who weighs around 150lbs. I was pulling him on a single towable tube and the ski didn't have any problem getting up to speed or whipping him around.

he will drag the gtx all over when he cuts, especially with something as big as a wakeboard. in MS and HS i weighed like 120 and i could easily pull our 20' I/O ski boat off course enough that it required correction. i have a 95 gtx and they're not exactly corner carvers either.

i've pulled tubes before without much of an issue, but they don't offer the level of resistance you'd get with a wake board, based on my observations, i'd agree 100% with striz, he's going to yank the back end back and forth as he cuts...

however, the worst thing that happens if you try it is that it doesn't work out, and you don't try it again, so feel free !

I was able to wakeboard behind our old 1991 GT a few years back, weighed around 150 lbs back then. It was fine. I actually liked that wake better than our cousin's bowrider.

As for the yanking the rear around, as long as you're moving at a good speed, the suction from the jet actually keeps the rear in place.
Now if you were to try and gap the wake... Then you might have some issues. But clearing one side and landing in the middle, I was fine.

Well I think it's worth a try then. I didn't really think about him pulling the rear end around I was more concerned about it having enough punch to get him up but either way I'll give it a try and report back here maybe with some gopro footage.

If you get a more aggressive grate it will also hold the ski down and in place. With no other mods you will likely loose top end speed but you will gain traction, acceleration and mid range performance.

We have not done it behind a GTX but the GS with a 717 has no problem at all pulling a wakeboarder 165lbs out of the water. The rear of the ski slides around a bit when wakeboarder cuts across the wake but easily manageable. Typically we wakeboard around 18-20 mph.

No, wet. A wakeboard does not have that much resistance cause of the bigger surface area, pops right out of the water. A slalom skier is another story, that works too put a little more difficult because the ski is much more narrow and your body is like dragging a parachute through the water.

hi,
i use a 97 sp 720 to wake. in the begining the jet makes a lot of force to pull the person on the wake, when the wakes pops off the water it becames lighter and the jet goes on. the problem is when the wake rider makes really fast to the sides, the rear part of the ski becames to turn.. its funny.. but we have a lot of fun here..
sorry for the bad english..
best regards
