Just picked up the wakepro in March brand new. This is our first experience with jet drive, been around outboards all our life.
Wife and I went out on the river for supper last evening. As we were leaving the docks in some fast flowing water I started to accelerate and then heard something rattle around under the boat and then felt it fire it's way out. The wife noticed behind some debris of small sticks and chunks of wood in the water. The wake lost performance for about 2-3 seconds and then regained it as whatever was underneath cleared.
The doo seems to accelerate normal with no vibrations or anything noticeable. When I got it back home on the trailer I figured I would take a peek underneath at the impeller and see if I could see anything.
These are the pics:
The three small chips were not in the blades prior and the wear ring had slightly less scuffing. "Visually" the clearance from the blades to the Ring appear about the same. The wake has about 15hrs on it.
So is there anything I should do or check now? Anything I need to check in the pump itself before the next outing on the water? I'm figuring wait until performance or cavitation become a problem before I jump the gun on replacing parts prematurely just for the sake of it. Performance on take off and at speed does not seem to have changed. It ran fine down the river the rest of the ride home. Unfortunately parking it or towing it home was not an option as we were about 20kms from where our vehicle was parked.
In the event this happens again what can I do to clear objects from underneath?
On a plus note, this thing has been a blast and has been perfect for all the watersports at the cottage. Unfortunately maiden voyage on the river in the city brought about it's first hiccup and worry from a new owner.
