VTS problems

So just to be clear, it is the magnet that is the limit switch? In other words if the gauge is not working properly but your VTS is moving chances are that the VTS motor is not hitting a limit and gonna burn itself out if you hold the UP or DOWN button too long.

Thats how mine was, & I thought it was normal. If I held the button in (up or down) I would hear the motor go to its mechanical limits & then stop, but if I held switch, it stayed under power like you mentioned. Gotta be hard on the plastic, & the motor. On mine, the gauge was still working until just recently. If that didn't quit, I wouldn't have pulled it apart. It was a surprise to me that there were limit switches in there, but it sure makes sense that there would be. My guess is as the magnets rust away and as they loose their strength the limit switches could be the first thing to fail, followed by the gauge readings.
