Hello from Portugal

I own a Seadoo GTX RFI 1999 and engine starts with push of button outside of the water, but doesn´t start well on water, I need to pull the throttle, can this be bad for the engine?

Could you guys check out this video and send me some feedback regarding if it sounds ok and if that shaking is normal?

Thanks

They will shake. But it you wanted to it's easy to see if you have a broken engine mount. I just grab the main pipe and lift up or rotate the pipe one handed while watching the engine mount. If it lifts up off the mount, the mount is bad. You can sorta do the same for the rear, you would just need to remove that black baffle piece under the seat to really see it.

That's the same as mine. They idle on one cylinder so it increases the movement a bit, when a bit of throttle is applied it smoothens out. I don't think that's all that bad.

Wait, seriously? RFI's idle on a single cylinder??
Mine (1998 787RFI) was idling in water at around 1K rpm's and I though that they (787RFI's) should be around 1.5K. It was shaking quite a bit, but if it idles on a single cylinder, that explains the shakes. I adjusted the idle set screw (on land) and am hoping in water I'll be around 1.5k.

Yeah that's why altering the idle too much with just the set screw sometimes causes issues because the TPS needs to also be reset. If the TPS thinks the crafts not at idle it'll run on both cylinders, pretty sure there's more side effects as well

Yes I have a 2001 GTX RFI and it idles on one cylinder. I think it described in the shop manual, but I cannot look it up right now. It does rattle and vibrate but smooths right out under throttle.

Thanks for the info guys, i had no idea that the engine would run with one cylinder only when on idle. I just think it still shakes way more then it should, maybe it´s the mounts I will check them next week

So the sound is normal?

What about the hard starting when on water? Why would I need to do full throttle? My mechanic friend said that my battery wasn´t accepting charge, it was bad and the ski was working with 11,6volts. But I don´t think that´s related with the need of doing full throttle for the engine to start, is it?

Full throttle on start is "flooded mode". The injectors are not delivering any fuel if you are trying to start it WOT. You should not have to touch the throttle at all. No charging could be the rectifier, which is a known weak spot. I will let others more knowledgable on that comment.
