Viable excuses to those that want to ride my doo's

In michigan, anyone born after 1980 I believe must have a boaters safety in their position to operate a pwc. Even tho mine is old and nowhere near mint, that's the only way they are riding it, of they have one, because the owner of craft can be ticketed as well as person operating it, and in michigan it goes on your driving record, and mine is perfect, so I'm not blowing that.

MICHIGAN UPDATED:

The Michigan Department of Resources reminds anyone who plans on operating a watercraft this year to take a boating safety course. Classroom and online options are available, and boating safety is required for anyone born after Dec. 31, 1978, who wants to operate a personal watercraft (PWC) and those born after July 1, 1996 who want to operate a motorboat. Children under the age of 14 may not legally operate a watercraft in Michigan.

So I bought another 96xp today and let a guy ride my other one. First time anyone besides my fiance has ridden my skis.... he freaking lost the dess key somehow while i was getting the trailer. sunk it somehow or I dont know what. Needless to say he is towing my skis to the dealership and getting a new key programmed as we speak. I was pissed.

My dess has a yellow float on it, so it won't sink.

I like to use the - My insurance doesn't cover you as a driver...and the reply - "Oh really", ya really...Also, I am like others on this thread, I have never ever asked to ride someones ski. Even if they tried to force it on me... Sorry i just dont feel good right now, you go out..

Personally, fully knowing that BOAT stands for Break Out Another Thousand, not to mention the time you have invested in your skis.. I can fully understand why you don't want anyone else to ride, especially the hothead riders that love doing spins/360s/try to throw themselves off and basically abuse PWCs (or the newbies who run the engine right up to the anchor line or beach before shutting down)

That said.. I bring 2 skis with me anywhere I go as it's more fun (to me) to ride with at least one other buddy. At first I have them pay the launch fee on my 2nd ski, nice and cheap just to get them the bug, after that they pay for gas on one/chip in for oil (It's like selling drugs lol, hey man just try it, this one's free)

Granted, I work for an automotive company and most of the guys who go with us are gearheads.. If something breaks we fix it together.. I guess we're an odd bunch - we even swap cars at the track to see who's a better driver..

i guess you can count me in on that one.. my and my buddy will swap skis somewhat through our run just to get on a different ski we both launch out of the same place so the frees are already taken care of.. gas.. we both put gas in our own skis so it washes its self out.. my ski rides smooth as hell so when hes tired of bouncing around on his and im itching to bounce around well flip flop for a good half hour or so.. that said we both understand we break something on each others skis were paying for it....

all of my friends who do not have a ski simply dont come out with us.. dont meet us at the beach... or are too afraid to drive the ski but would rather be on the back while im riding them.

other family members who do not have a ski nor experience.. on my spx i didnt have a care in the world about the ski.. just for their own safety but on my new ski i have yet to encounter that situation.. most likely ill let them circle around the bay a few times within sight with the learners key only after theyve been on the ski with me a couple times and know what theyre doing... the way i see it we all have to start somewhere.
