very poor acceleration,low top speed

I would just change the spark plugs again and see how it runs. You can switch injector positions if you want. Ideally, you run the injectors into 3 small glass jars or cups and make sure they are putting out equal amounts of fuel after you cycle them several times to get a good measurement and also check the fuel for any water contamination. You should also put in sport mode right after it starts and see how it revs up.

Thanks

I replaced the injector on that cylinder and now it is running on that cylinder (and the other two) i can hear a difference when that coil (or any of the coils) is disconnected. Unfortunately, in and out of the water relies on a friend and he is unavailable at the moment.

I will get some jars that will fit. Thanks again

I did another sanity check last night. Disconnected all the coil wires and then connected only one coil, started the engine and made sure the engine would idle and respond to throttle, disconnected that coil, moved on to next cylinder, repeat.

All three cylinders will start, idle and respond to throttle individually with only one cylinder having an active ignition.

Of course, that does not guarantee that the engine will produce the expected power but it does prove that every cylinder is active to some degree.

Its been awhile since my last post, caught an eye infection which lasted over a month.

Since i am still waiting to get a tow into the water, i changed the other two fuel injectors. Now i have a different problem.

Starts and idles fine. If i give it throttle, it revs much higher than i would expect from that amount of throttle. When i let go of the throttle lever, it does not return to idle speed, still much higher than idle but a little lower than before i released the lever. I cant let it run long since i have no water source.

If i shut it off and then restart, it is at idle speed. Tried it a few times and same behavior.

I don’t think this was happening before so i assume it was caused by the new injectors, they are aftermarket not oem injectors.

Seems stange it starts and idles fine but is basically out of control at anything over idle speed. Anyone seem this before?

Sorry, i think i found the problem. The code on the injectors i took off was red. The code of the installed injectors is blue, indicating they are for the 155/215/260 engine.

I would expect the blue injectors would make it run rich, not sure whether it is causing the issue i am having but i have ordered another set of injectors, hopefully the suppler gets it right this time

Any progress?
Unfortunately, i have not been up there to install the correct fuel injectors. Fell and twisted my knee badly. Thought it was just a sprain but after 3 weeks, no improvement. Had an mri of knee yesterday, waiting for the report.

Well my knee is really screwed up. Sprain of MCL, complex tears of lateral meniscus, and 1/4” loose body (bone or cartilage), shown in mri. Waiting to get into orthopedic surgeon. My leg limits what I can do but I can still do simple things that don’t involve bending the knee.

In the meantime, i got up to the lake and installed the correct injectors. So new plugs, new coils and new injectors.

Starts fine and idles fine, again remember I have no water and can’t get it into the water so running time is in seconds.

Once i use the throttle lever, the engine revs up but I can’t control the rpm. If i let go of the lever, it still keeps revving around 4000 rpm and doesn’t return to idle. It will rev up to higher rpm and drop to a lower rpm but never even close to the correct idle rpm

If i shut it off and restart, it starts and runs at idle speed.

Throttle acceleration sensor or throttle position sensor issues? Seems strange, even when i had poor acceleration and low top speed, the throttle lever response was normal, release the throttle and it returned to idle. Not anymore, seems like I created another issue. Is there anything that I might have disturbed while removing the throttle rail and removing the fuel injectors?

Any ideas?

Larry
