Hello All!

I will be purchasing a 2001 Seadoo Utopia 185 (with the 200hp Mercury M2) from my neighbor for a price that I could not possibly pass up. He is an older guy that is no longer able to use the boat so he just wanted to get rid of it. I know he took extremely good care of it up until the past few years in which he may not have performed the proper maintenance. He let me test drive the boat the other day and it started right up, no problems whatsoever; and the engine sounded to be in good shape, no unusual noises that caught my attention.

However, I am not very familiar with these 2-stroke engines and I was wondering what maintenance I should perform to get her back into her best, most reliable state? I was already planning on oil change, new spark plugs, and new gas (since it has been sitting for about 6 months). Is there anything else I should take a look at? Any peculiarities to keep an eye out for?

Thanks,
Kyle

change the oil in the lower unit, throw in some new spark plugs and make sure it always has plenty of oil when you use it.
