I was told not to run 87 octane in my 96 XP and SPX...ive only used these fuels for one weekend after I bought them, and the XP was broken down most of the time. I was told to buy octane booster for the rest of the tank...is this true and will any of this hurt the engine?

Who ever told you that has no idea about seadoo's. This is what is recommended by seadoo concerning gas and oil;

Use High quality low ASH API TC Injector oil.
Do Not use NMMA TC-W, TC-W2 or TC-W3 outboard motor oils or other ash less type 2 cycle oil. Avoid mixing different brands of API TC oil as resulting chemical reaction will cause severe engine damage. Never mix Mineral or synthetics oil together.

Never use fuel containing more than 10 % alcohol,( Methanol or Ethanol) as severe damage will occur. The minimum of 87 octane is recommended for most engines.

I hope this info clears this matter up.

ok thats what i thought...im just gonna keep runnin the 87 then in it now and then switch to premium 93..only gonna cost a couple dollars more anyways.

The premium 93 is just a waste of money. The engine is designed to run on 87 octane. You could run 105 octane and it won't make any difference except waste your money. The only reason to run higher octane is if you have detonation from extreme timing changes or from being modified. In stock form 87 is whats needed. The super charged 4-tec versions need 91 octane because that are set up to run on 91 octane from seadoo direct. Any extra octane is just blown out the exhaust pipe with all unburned fuel.
