I was testing the lights on my trailer today and noticed that my brake and turn signals work fine, but the parking lights do not work (none of them on the entire trailer). Were should I start looking to troubleshoot this?

Thanks.

It's likely one of your wires in the harness. There are 3 wires, one for park lights, one for signal lights and one for brake lights. One of the three has an issue.

You have an open circuit in your running light wire. Keep in mind that it could also be in your harness on your vehicle not necessarily on your trailer.

I think you should have 4or 5 wires? brakes, running lights, left signal, right signal and maybe a ground. If all your park/running lights dont work the problem will be near the front maybe at the connector or maybe a wire rubing on the trailer were it goes through the fram rail. use a test light and check the harness on the car/truck and find out witch wire does what and that each one has power (example white wire has power when the brakes on) If that turns up ok then the problem is in the trailer.

I have five wires.

1 White (ground), 1 Yellow, 1 Green, 2 Browns

The yellow and one brown go down one side of the trailer, and the green and other brown go down the other side.

It appears that it is an issue with the recepticle on the truck. I never would of thought that as the truck is only a year old but when I used a test light on the recepticle, the turn signals worked but nothing when I inserted it into the running lights plug.

I looked at the fuse panel and only saw the relay for the trailer running lights but there was also a fuse for only the trailer running lights and it was blown.

Problem solved with a new 20A fuse.

Thanks for all of the help.
