Hi everybody. I'm not sure if a thread like this has been done before or if the Moderators want it posted in another area, I only work with two strokes so I thought I'd post here.

I was just looking to see what tips and tricks people have when working with their Doo's. Also, if people have done any custom "tweaks" that are not standard but have worked. Give us some of your ideas. I'll throw two out there

Jet pump oil changes.

I always have a spare o-ring on hand because the used o-ring has a 99% chance of getting pinched. I buy o-rings from the hardware store parts bins for 90 cents. A small bead of gel seal on the cone also helps seal things up a little more. I just run regular differential gear oil in the pump, a quart costs less than a small container of synthetic pump oil. Change the pump oil often.

Bilge pump lines.

I have a 94 XP that I like to stand on the back end, but it fills with water fast when I do this. When the machine is on end the entire bilge pump system is below the water level and the jet is not running high rpm's. I guessed the water pressure pushing in was stronger than the suction action pulling water out so I replaced my bilge "pump" lines. I replaced the short lines with lines that ran from the pickup ends, up to the front of the mag cylinder and out the regular pump fittings. I drilled a small hole at the bend in the lines at the furthest forward point to prevent siphoning. It worked, no more filling the hull when standing on the tail and the bilge system still works.

Custom things I've done or added:

1. Auto Rule bilge 25S on each of my skis, I've never had them kick on, but there just for piece of mind. Manual mode is aval also using a spot left of the info center. Auto switch under the steering on the 96' GSX and in the glove box on the 97' GTX. Discharge lines are thru the grab handle to keep the exit high and inconspicuous, splits from 3/4" to two 3/8" fittings.

2. Small voltage/amp gauge on the GSX, will likely add it to the GTX also during the off season. They cost about $10 shipped on ebay. Wired in the bilge circuit, serves several purposes, indicates I've got the auto bilge on and the amp indication lets me know if the bilge is activated. I can also see the charge voltage as I ride or before starting after I flip the auto bilge circuit on. BTW, 12.3 volts is where the 'low voltage' indication goes out on the info gauge.

3. Cell phone charging circuit in the glove box for the GTX, again, only activated when the auto bilge switch is at the on position.

4. MPH and speed o/lake temp added to the GSX, also added compass and ambient temp.

Some other stuff:

ALL lines, fuel, oil and water are clear on my skis except the 1/2" black lines at the top of the engine. I do this to watch for air bubbles or problem spots in flow.

I use SS ties for the PTO boot, they're cheap and effective. They tighten up better than nylon wire ties and are much easy to deal with than oekiter clamps.

Eyelets for lifting the engine using old spark plugs and NOT NEEDING TO WELD. Bust the ceramic out of a couple old spark plugs, grind the tips, get some eyelets that go through, 2 washers, and 6 nuts. Put it all together and grind the 2 nuts locked on the end with a wheel grinder until it threads into the head.
