ticking starter

I have an 05 gtx, when I press the start button it ticks and eventually it starts, anyone know what could be failing and needs replaced?

Make sure the battery is fully charged and good. Check all the connections, make sure they are clean and not corroded. A weak or bad ground wire causes this sometimes, or your battery it not fully charged.

thanks for the reply, I have a new odyssey battery, less than a year old and all my connections are clean. You could eat off my engine, haha. Could it be the starter unit or solenoid?
