The Ski For Me

Looking for some insight on a new ski. The one and only one ive ever owned was back in 01 I bought a 2001 XP Limited. Looking for something new now thats similar but seems harder than I thought it would be. 2 seaters are almost non existent and if they are, they are much bigger(2 foot longer than my xp). Been looking at the RXP and I see that its meant for racing which sounds fun but my style is more on the playful side(Spinning and jumping out of the water). Now with the RXP will the playful setting on the sponsons give me a similar feeling to the XP I used to have or is this only a race ski meant for turning on a dime? Which I dont mind I kind of like having the sponsons to give me different settings for whatever style im feeling for the day. Would like to have both style in one ski but if there are better options I would like to hear it. Really want to buy new as I like to be trouble free with warantees and such. Never had the best luck with used things. Dont care for pulling a tube or skis just solo riding so really not wanting a 3 seater. Spark looks Kind of slow. With just those two criteria I am only left with the RXP.

Thanks
Josh

RXPX or RXP it sounds like.. what is your price range?

The Spark is considered the Modern Day XP. You can tune the engine to 110 or 115 I believe. That said, it is smaller and less stable than the RXP. I have the RXT-X and love the ski. Basically the 3 seat version of the XP you are looking at.

rxp is pretty playful, at least as far as 4 strokes go, the older style hulls and I guess you could set sponsons on the highest setting to get more spinning action but I can't recall seeing a rxp do any kind of xp/gsx/xpl spinouts, but they certainly can pull a 180 on a dime.

the newer rxpx (t3 hull) is extremely nimble, and are generally pretty awesome especially with the ergo seat but again, they dig/bite into turns, very little if any washout. I ride with rxp's and the t3's fairly frequently but most of the time its hard cornering type action, 180's and jump their own wake action that they display, but they can certainly catch some air when we head out into the gulf.

I believe the rxpx (t3) has 3 settings on their sponson's. But every rider i've been with sets it in the middle/bottom, I can't recall anybody that has set theirs to the higest level so I can't offer much input there.

sparks probably fit the description of playfullness best except that top speed isn't impressive w/o a tune and even then they are not considered speedy compared to the other sd models.

Besides the spark, the rxp and rxpx would be the next most playful ski, all the other models are like riding a small boat.

If your dead set of 4tec, then those are pretty much your only choices.

otherwise its 2 strokes:
the X4/gsx models and xpl for seadoo,
the gp1300r for yami,
ultra 150's for Kawi.

Doesnt need to do 360s just like the whipping feeling of the backend sliding around. Just wasnt sure the rxpx300 was capable of that because of how well it grabs.

RXP-X will hold line and won't slip the back around like I think you're looking at. See if you can get an opportunity to ride an RXP-X and a GTR side by side. I think the GTR hull sounds more like what you're after, even if it is a 3 seater.
