Great feedback all.
I had broken down the brass enough with the easy-out that I was able to clear it the rest of the way out with the 1/8-27 NPT tap (ordered it on the 19th, before Racer mentioned the spiral version).
The bits that fell in were few and fairly small, so I'm confident that hooking a hose to the head water outlet (right beside where the bits fell) and running that hose straight out of the boat (skipping the calibrated fitting), that all of the debris should pass rather quickly.

I've got the engine back in the boat, just need to reinstall the carbs and battery so I can test it and see where she leaks. :)

Racer, you never stop amazing me with the stuff you think up, its so simple its stupid.

You could even leave that hose off and start it up on the hose for a few seconds to flush out anything that was missed. Or put a piece of hose on there so the water goes outside the hull.

Ha, that's great, I'll take that as a compliment for sure! K.I.S.S Keep It Simple Stupid is what was always preached to me. That hose should already be the exit to the hull that drains near the pump.

The NPT Spiral taps run about $50+. Not a cheap venture. Congrats on the fix up. Teflon tape or pipe dope( I prefer the tape for a clean look), just make it SNUG. IIRC from my college professor, only 2 threads will interfere on a national pipe thread.
