98 seadoo sportster 1800. Right side tac when out today while driving then back about 5 mins later then off again at some point just stoped watching it. You think tac just went bad? What should I check?....thanks

It's probably just the Tach. Is there any moisture in it?

BUT... you should check the wiring in the helm.

One of the tachs is out on my boat too. I checked the wiring by swapping tachs and everything was ok. Replacing the tach is a no go with it costing 250 new and lowest I have found on ebay is 125. I installed a tiny tach instead, plus it adds an hour meter.

Thanks for the replys. No moisture in it and the owner before told me he just replaced that tac. I'll check wiring in the helm like u said and also swap tacs n see what that does......thanks

You may have to check the wires going the entire way back to the engine. It may just be a corroded connection.

Thanks....when I get back today ill check all connections. What's at the end of the run? How does ghe tac read the rpms? Would there b some kind of sensor? I'm not familiar how it works...how the tac reads it...

On the 720 engine... the tach is just reading the frequency of the stator coils. (The yellow wires on the engine)
