Hello I just purchased a 2005 Seadoo Sportster SCIC and from what I have read it is very important to rebuild the supercharger. The person I bought it from is the original owner and never replaced the ceramic washers.

So my questions is what is the correct supercharger part number for my year / model boat? I have searched the Internet and even called a couple Seadoo dealers and have been given conflicting part numbers. One dealers says I need a newer kit from an 08 model And another says I need a specific kit to that year/model boat.

I just simply want the right one.

Also, would anyone recommend any other upgrades or part replacements while I'm having the supercharger rebuilt?

I currently also have a 2005 Seadoo Sportster as well and bought the supercharged model for better low and top end speed so any suggestions to get a few more HP is welcomed.

I have a sportster 2005 SCIC also. I just had the 50 hour oil change/service done. The supercharger needs to be done at 100 hours. The rebuild kit is about 310.00 including the steel washers vs the ceramic. I just talked to my mechanic at Spaceport cycles about the ceramic issue. he said that if they go it doesnt damage other components and it will need to be rebuilt. He said it is unlikley unless you are flooring the throttle every single time you accelerate. The labor is around 2 hours for the rebuild. I am going to buy the x-charger (upgrade 699.00 new) which is a little biggger and the 42 lb. injectors (required for this supercharger) when it is time for the 100 hour service. With labor it is about 1200.00. It is almost 600 to get the kit and rebuild the exisiting one. If you need more info you should call Riva and talk to Pete. He has been a big help so far with upgrades for me. I just did the cold air intake and i am real happy with the results.

I talked to Pete about my boat after i wrote the above and he said the new x-charger is the new factory SC for their boats as well as the new injectors. They are made by Seadoo according to him.
He did add that currently if you noticed a sudden drop/change in rpms from 8000 to 7400 as a maximum then it is time to take your boat in. Dont finish out the day. Take it to be serviced as soon as you notice the problem. If you continue using past failure then more severe problems/damage will occur.

Thanks for the reply. I also spoke with Pete at Riva and he seems very knowledgeable. I have not deceided yet if I'm going to go with the X or just rebuild my current SC. I'm a being a bit cautious because he advised that there is no guarantees that the X will work ok. I have not read anywhere else were someone else installed an X on a 05 Sprotester SCIC. It sounds like it will be ok but I'm goig to do a bit more research. I'm all about the speed don't get m wrong. But I want to make sure it's worth it. I wonder if the X will decrease the life of the motor faster? The gain in speed may only be 1 to 2 mph ? Do you know anyone who has installed the X on. Similar boat? Pete explains these are made for PWC. What is the cold air intake you installed?

Hey Tim thanks for the reply. What is the maintenance on the unit ? Is it simply that it needs to be rebuilt every 100 hours or is there other maintenance? I guess the question is should I simply rebuild what I have or upgrade to the X supercharger and 42lb injectors? If I do upgrade is that going to effect anything? Is the Seadoo Sportster tuned to run on the current supercharger and by adding the new X Supercharger does it need to be re-tuned? What are the ramifications of adding the new X supercharger if any?

Try talking to Dustin at spaceport cycles in Titiusville Fl. He has been great. He is the one that installed my intake. As i understand it. The super charger needs to be rebuilt every 100 hours. You have a choice of rebulid or bolting on a new supercharger. This "X" charger is the one that they put on the same engine in a conventional seadoo since 2007 i think. These engines are extremely well made and can take this additional pressure. It is very possible that it may not last as long. I like the boat and if it makes it even more fun i am for it. I was quoted 2 hrs on the rebuild of the old one with this kit http://www.4-tecperformance.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=18_63&products_id=763 It ends up being 600 or so after install. Cheaper way to go.
I wouldnt do it if you are not close to 100 hours unless my rpms had dropped. If you can only get 7400 or so then they say the supercharger is not working anyway.
