Yesterday was the second day out on the IL River and sucked a stick up when I was idling under a bridge. I have had wave runners and been I lots of jet boat never have I sucked up a big stick. Boat started vibrating really bad so i shut the engine off. Then idle four miles back to the launch ramp. The stick it’s about 3 inches round and about the same long. It looks like there are two impellers and it’s between both of them. My question is can I just break it apart with the power washer. Since the drift wood dry it became weaker. Then should I just take the boat out after I get the wood out. Can wood or the power washer damage the impeller? Do not really want to take to the dealer because it cost an arm and a lag here to fix anything.

Need help any ideas.

Nick try to poke it from the rear to get it out the way it came in. Becarefull not to damage the wear ring. The pressure washer might do it too. Look for any gouges in the wear ring. That could be a bad thing. You might be able to take the grate off from the bottom on the trailer and poke the stick out.
Keep us posted. How is the depth finder working?

Hi, you should be able to poke it through like Karl said, but that might not be your only problem. If the stick was strong enough and jammed between the stator and the impeller you might find out it has changed the pitch of the impeller so it will rev out. the only way to check is to remove it and lay it flat on a bench and measure the blades from the bench. I hope this hasn't happened, but if you find that engine reving higher(faster) it could be the case. If this has happened maybe you could do both and repitch for that extra speed you were chasing:)
