Steering Cable slack

Hi All, I've 2001 Speedster, mercury M2 240 EFI.
I see that long slack in the steering wheel and not really sure if that's normal or needs to be adjusted..

can you instruct me to a thread of the steps to adjust that slack, thanks in advance..

Looks like you can take a great deal of the slack out of it by adjusting it at the end of the cable sheath shown in the top of the photo. There may be more adjustment available at the other end as well. Out boat is in the storage lot or I would check that for you.
