StarvIng for fuel in water for first 5 mins....

I have two 1996 seadoo xps's....on the trailer they both fire right up and rev and run flawless. In the water however, one of them takes right off, the other seems to starve for fuel the first 5 mins. It'll stutter and putt around no matter how much throttle u give it. After toying around and throttling for a few mins, it will take off and ride all day no problem, it's Jist them first 5 mins is when it seems to starve for fuel. At first I thought junk in the carb or bad gas, but it's done this for over 3 or 4 fill ups so it rules out bad gas. Any thoughts or suggestions aside from a carb rebuild (plan on doing that before the season) I also replaced all fuel lines as well, hoping to fix but that didn't do it, along with fuel filter

Sounds like a bad carb adjustment some where.
OR
Check the water separator container for a possible air leak.
Actually check all fuel lines for an air leak too.

What fuel filter did you use. A Fram G2 works great.

The filter was just a standard replacement, nothing special. The problem was happening before the fuel lines, so I swapped out every inch of that grey fuel line on both Jist from hearing about how bad they were. And hoped that was the problem, but it wasn't.

I'm gonna try a compression test to. Someone I know had a similar issue on a boat and the head was cracked. Had a hairline leak and was flakey for the first few mins until it warmed up and expanded and sealed off the crack. Any idea on the compression numbers?

Did you at least open up the carbs and check the internal filters? They get plugged really easily. Be REALLY cautious running it with fuel issues. You can fry one of these on a lean seize in just a couple of minutes. Also, make sure all connections are tight and no air is getting into the system. Especially check the water separator (fuel filter). Any vacuum leak and it can suck air instead of fuel.

No, gonna have the carbs done by a known repair guy, that's going to be my first step. Was hoping someone on here seen this issue before to either confirm or rule out the carbs...I have no prob spending the money if I'm pretty sure it'll fix it. The water Seperator has a fresh oring on it, but I'll def double check

Compression numbers should be at 150 psi with the throttle held wide open.

That's where I run out of, I actually have twin skis, one for my gf. But she hates the river...any decent somewhat local lakes for someone to get comfortable on the skis...without heavy current and waves?...where else do u ride?

I've seen rectifiers going bad do all sorts of crazy things. Try unplugging the red wire to the rec/reg and go for a ride

I seen something about that rectifier and pulling the fuse, Can you get a litl more into detail about that?

If you open the front Gray box you will see the rectifier with 3 yellow wires and one red wire. Disconnect and tape up the red wire. Then try it and see if the problem goes away. If it runs normal, you know that's the problem.

No lakes around here. Gotta drive to Raystown. Just take the river south to the Rancocas Creek. That is my favorite spot to rip. It's always glass and the drag boat guys race back in there. So much fun. I'll post links later.

Awesome, now pulling this red wire, what is the counter effect. What does the rectifier do? Can it run without that wire in? If it does solve the problem, is it a replace the rectifier immedialty type of situation?

Battery will not be charged with red wire disconnected. This is strictly a test to see if taking rectifier out of loop will allow ski to run better. Ski can run for a while on a decent battery charge with it disconnected, but not suggested to run for very long.
