Hello: I have a 2009 gti se 130. me and my wife took it out for a ride today and everything worked well. after docking a few minutes and tried to start again, NOTHING. all the displays come on like it is ready to start but NO double beeps. what could be wrong when it started just fine then no double beep after a few minutes break?

How's your battery. Classic sign of a battery going bad. Check your battery voltage and then check your voltage while cranking. If the voltage drops below 10.5v the MPEM will not work and therefore it won't start. Also check all your battery connections and grounds. Make sure they are all clean and free of corrosion.

Usually after the ski warms up it will be harder to start on a weak battery. Heat causes more resistance and exposing a weakening battery.

Beepers fail often. So don't worry about the lack of beep issue until you can confirm the beeper is still good.

Get a good charge on the battery. Do not have the battery hooked up (meaning, disconnect one of the cables in the ski running to the battery) while you charge it.

It sounds like a low voltage issue. If you find the battery is good, then it is likely a bad starter, cables, or connections.

You can jump across the solenoid to at least find out if the battery, connections and cables are good. (Solenoids fail often as well).

hello kk40384: i checked the battery and it was 12.5 v when not cranking. but when i put the DESS key in, the voltage drops to about 7 or 8v without even pressing the start button. i put it on the charger. do i need a new battery?

coastijoe: i hope it is just the battery... if it could the starter or solenoid, i would have hard time fixing it as i am not familiar with fixing these PWCs and would not know where to start to find the starter or solenoid.

If it is dropping to 7 volts and your gauge is accurate, then you bed a battery.

I am certain that if you test the battery under a load it will be trashed. Again, this assumes your gauge is accurate.

what is a good battery for this sea doo? i know i should stay away from walmart but unsure what batteries you guys use.

I bought my last one from Autozone. It was near 100 dollars ish.. I still have the OEM batteries in my present skis.

Many will tell you that sealed batteries are better. They are good generally speaking and you would not have a vent on the bettery. But not ALL sealed batteries are good. Do some research if you go that route.

Joe is right about the dead battery if it drop that low. When mine died I replaced it with a gel filled sealed one from Decka. Haven't had an issue with it yet and I'm on the third season with it already.

is that the same as gel or AGM battery?

That is correct...

Over all, they are better for marine applications. Just do some research of start a new thread to get others views of WHICH gel battery is a good one. Dr Honda had posted something on this and gave some examples. Don't recall what his views were off hand..
