So yesterday I took my 01 XP out for a ride, ran great (as it usually does), stopped at a cove to do some swimming and relaxing, went to return home, and the ski wouldnt start, didnt even try to start...
i did not know about the 5 press trick till reading today, but im certain i pressed the button more then 5 times trying to start it. heres the issues, the beeper usually doesnt work (its been hit/miss if it does for years)
i put the key on the post, and the gauges would come up(no beeps, but thats usual for mine)
i hit the starter button and nothing, tied this several times before getting a tow back into land.
today, i go out to try and see whats wrong after reading, i do the 5 pushes, and get the 2 beeps
i put the key in (no beeps), hit the starter button, and it fires right up.
pull key, and put it back on, now i get the 2beeps when connecting the key.
is this just a fluke? is there a way to bypass the dess key? (i honestly wouldnt care if its needed or not if it means i dont need to worry about a dess post or key going bad on me in the middle of the chesapeake), i could always get tools and "jump" the stater switch if it goes bad, dess not so much.
