:banghead::banghead:Hey guys the dealer (Smith power sports) came to get the 230 wake again and for more info on that check out the 230 wake thread. In talking to the guy picking up the boat which he was in town for a motorcycle class, he told me that they are removeing all towers on the speedster's as they (not sure if he was talking about the dealership or Sea Doo) have had some of the towers break. Told me one had broke while they were wakeboarding and the tower came down on someone. Don't know if anybody was hurt. But I would be checking into this if I had one. And at this time they had no fix for it. Sorry guys I love my boat, but I've been seriously disapointed with BRP in there quality control. :banghead:

TVZ,

I have to admit, you have me frightened to death about your experiences. Is your experience what I should expect?

Craig

It sees to be more of a dealer problem than a seadoo problem. I have never had a problen with my seadoo dealer...or anybody I know of for that matter.

Just passing on what i was told. I haven't heard anything bad either. Craigmri I would still buy a Sea Doo for Smithpower Sports. Just alot of stuip things that should have been common sense, but we all know not so common anymore.

TVZ i just heard this the other day. Seadoo is recalling ALL there tower's and they will be replace free of charge. the towers are breaking around the welds by the body mounts(ive seen pics and ill try and find them and post them here for everyone to see. seadoo doesnt make the towers there made by another company, so cant really blam them and ive read your other tread and id say your prolems are the dealers fault. Ive also heard that some states have a lemon law you might want to look into that. Cause if your state has that law you might be intitled to a new boat.

Recall alert
Date: November 11, 2008

Dear Sea-Doo® Sport Boats Owner,

This Safety Recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Coast Guard and Transport Canada and is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Federal Boat Safety Act and other applicable laws.

What is the reason for this notice?
In cooperation with Transport Canada and the U.S. Coast Guard, Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. and BRP US Inc. (BRP) are conducting a voluntary safety recall of certain Sea-Doo® 200 Speedster and 200 Speedster Wake of model year 2007/2008, and of the Speedster 200 and Speedster 200 Wake of model year 2004 to 2006 Sport Boats, that are equipped with a wakeboard tower.

What is the potential problem?
Cracks or breaks can develop in the welded joints of the tower attachment ends above the upper rear leg attachment points which, in rough water or towing conditions, can allow the tower to disengage from the rear legs. If this occurs, the tower could then fall onto the boat and its occupants, potentially resulting in serious injuries or death.

What should you do?
Immediately stop using your boat pending further communication from BRP. Should you wish to continue using your boat, call an authorized BRP Sea-Doo dealer and make an appointment to have the wakeboard tower removed from your boat. The dealer will perform this work at no charge to you.

BRP is presently working on establishing an appropriate solution to prevent the potential occurrence of this failure and will contact you with further instructions.

What to do if you feel this notice is an error?
This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. If you no longer own this vehicle or some information in this notice is incorrect, please contact BRP at your earliest convenience.

If you have questions, need assistance, or wish to find the nearest authorized BRP dealer:

Visit www.seadoo.com
In the US and Canada: 1-888-638-5397, 8:00 to 18:00 Eastern time

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
After-Sales Service Department
Bombardier Recreational Products Inc.

I think it will be ok to use your boat stil just make sure you keep an eye on the welds and maybe stop useing the tower till its replaced. also the only one of hear of breaking are the speedster 150 but im sure ALL boats aply to this problem.

yea not worried about mine, just wanted to help out anybody on here that had one in the recall. The local Boat show is going on this weekend and thinking of gong to it just to talk to the local Sea Doo Rep?????

Ya i miss the boat show here been to busy with work. I dont know if they will be any help you you the rep at the shows are there to sell stuff. Not sure they will want to talk to much about there tower isuess when they have a crowd around them....either way i hope you get your problem sorted out. knock on wood mines been good to me. also you might want to look into changing the washers in the superchargers. the ceramic one suck. Riva make good replacements $100 a set.

yea it has a 4 year warranty on it and there is now way that I'm spending any money on this boat other than fuel. They have already did the 10hr service and winterizing for free. Plus BRP gave me a cover. Not bad I guess but its the dealers turn this time as he is the one that screwed up the last time.

TVZ,

I spoke to Fred at Smith today and told him the entire Seadoo forum community will open up a can of Rotax on him if my boat isnt perfect! Will they Sea trial it or is it too cold up there?

Craig
