Hi I am new to boats and looking at my first boat. It is a 2012 speedster 200 with only 15 hours. It is 800 miles away and the pictures look good except they supposedly backed into a pole and there is a little damage. He showed me the estimate from a boat shop for $1200. Just wondering if this is a big deal or nothing to worry about after its fixed. I text a picture to my dealer and he figured maybe 1k to fix. . ImageUploadedByTapatalk1374430474.864398.jpg

id be all over it if its the 510 hp, they are hard to find plus that can be fixed by you if you want to do it yourself

That is a long way to drive...

I would want a compression test done and have him e-mail the info to you.

Could he lie,,,, sure,,, but hopefully not.

28 grand is a lot of money to spend and not test it or know the engine compression. It may be an excellent boat. I just want you to be sure before you make the trip..

That is an easy repair you could do yourself for a couple hundred at the most. Looks cosmetic with mostly just the gel being smashed up. Looks like that is just the edge of the swim platform. It has nothing to do with the structure or the hull. Patch it up with gel cote and sand it down. The 200 is VERY hard to find in the 510. Id be all over it if I was looking for a newer 200. That boat new was over 40 grand. NADA which tends to under value them has it valued at 28-31. I always try to talk people down...I would try to get it around 26.

As far as the boat being over 800 miles away, dont let that stop ya. I bought mine 1500 miles away. It was worth it to fly down and check it out then pay someone else to tow it back. If you wont be able to go look at it, I would suggest having the seller take it to a Sea Doo dealer and have them do an inspection at his cost and send you the results.

Thanks everyone for the replies, they have been helpful. I was more concerned about the damage then anything but u helped ease my mind. I don't know if I will have time to have it checked at a dealer because if I buy it I would get it this week but I figured if there was problems there is still warranty.

Did you buy it? I just came across a 2006 with the 510HP On our local craigslist. Looks like an awesome deal. If i could sell mine fast enough, id be buying it.

Id be skeptical of that boat since its just a modified 430 rather than a factory 510. Have to be sure all upgrades were done to those 215 motors to keep/make them safe.

Ive put a lot of time, work and money into it the few months ive haad it. To get rid of it already id have to get like 16,000 for it.

What makes you think its was originally the 430? I dont see the rear with the decals specifiying which HP it is. Also with most people that take the time and money to modify the boat the way that one is done, they usually arent the kind of people to half ass anything. I know that from personal experience.

The fact that there is no 2006 510hp boat from the factory.

Yea maybe. From my experience though anytime something is modified it better be looked over well as there are far more hack jobs out there than not, doesn't matter the money spent as anyone can purchase the parts to make a 215 motor into a 255. The pictures of hydroturf, bimini top, and a wake tower don't give me any confidence that an x-charger, injectors, external intercooler, and RRFPR were installed to make it a true 510 boat, let alone if those items were installed properly. Just saying, look it over well before purchasing!

Thanks for that little tidbit of info!! I didnt realize that, so I did a little digging. Seems the 510 didnt come out till 2010. Then 2011 and 2012 you could only get the 200 in the 510. Now I know what years to look for if I decide to look for one.
