Found my leak, right below the instrument cluster in the hull is a Gelcrack that water ran out of when I filled the hull. I can grind the outside and patch easily enough but looks like Ill have to remove the instrument pod from the upper shell and crawl down in there to patch the inside.

That's where I need some advise , looking in with a mirror , it appears to be a rectangular fiberglass top surface that doesnt follow the hull shape? the cables are mounted to it and just aft of it looks to be a yellow Styrofoam pad??

Anyone have any suggestions about getting down to my cracked area around these internal features?

also Kitty Hair with fiberglass resin for inside or woven sheets?

Thx-Renomaan

The more I dig into how to fix this , the more I think Ill drill small holes around the damaged area and pumpin with a srynge MARINETEX resin. Ill prob use a grinder to recess and remove the flaked Gelcoat 1st then, after its pumped in, fill out to the surface and sand flush. Then Ill go in from the inside and try and get to the damaged area and fiberglass layup a patch. I really cant figure how to get to the inside area cause of the inner shelf/box built on top of the hullshape which is fiberglass as well. Ill post pics as I finish for reference.

The Shelf hold the steering box and cables to its surface and that fiberglass box they are on is bonded to the section of hull that has the crack location.

OK, update...so Speedster hulls have large rectangular structures in addition to the hull shape(on the inner side) from what I can tell there are foam blocks or fill in this to assist in floatation in the event the boat gets swamped.

Bad thing is , I'd have to open center floor hatch and saw thru this Glass box to get to the inner surface of the hull...not goin to happen (at least for 1st attempt to repair)

Hand ground crack and Gelcoat recess to drill holes around bad area and pump resin in....stay tuned! Hope to be boatin Sunday!
