Hello everyone, does anybody know why some boats and jetskis have different spark plug resistor boot ratings such as 10K ohms and 5K ohms. I need to replace some on my 98 sportster 1800 but they're 19 bucks from the dealer and I can't seem to find them anywhere else not ebay or otherwise. There are plenty of 5K ohm caps and I would like to use those however, I'm not exactly sure if it will mess around with the ignition system. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

ELI

The best spark plug caps are the original NGK ones. The NGK part number is TBO5EMA. You should be able to get them at an auto parts store if your dealer doesn't have them. Do not use the hard plastic ones.

Chester, my boat uses the TB10EMA resistor boots the 10 in the part number is for 10 thousand ohms of resistance, my original question is, will using the 5 thousand ohm resistor boots screw around with the ignition system in anyway such as more electromagnetic interference and things of that nature.

OK I see, I didn't realize those boats take the 10K ohm caps. Just order them from your dealer. $19 is cheap.
